Paysage culturel du Lac Tchad (Niger) is part of the Tentative list of Niger in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The cultural landscape of Lake Chad has been a crossroads of trade routes. Its palm trees provide essential resources; agricultural, livestock and fishery products are traded. It was the home of the Sao civilization and their descendants the Kotoko, whose fishermen's houses on the islands show elaborate architecture.
